Under 16 Coaches announced

As our programmes continue to eveolve our Under 16 programme will now focus towards the European Championships and we are delighted to announce our coaching duo.

The Under 16 (male) team will begin their preparations in the coming months as they look toward the 2020 European Championships, location TBC.  With our growing programmes there was a need to add new coaches to this team and we are pleased to announce two current national senior players have taken up the challenge.

Head Coach - Michael Creane

Michael, who has represented Ireland at all of their 3 international tournaments since 2013 has a wealth of playing experience domestically and internationally. Michael who has been the team captain the last 2 summers brings plenty of leadership skills to this role and combined with his eye for detail we are confident will ensure the Under 16 team will be well prepared.
As well as playing Michael has been involved in coaching at the Bangor Chiefs the last number of years helping to guide the seniors up the league standings while also assisting in giving junior players a good platform to build from.

Assistant Coach - Darren Snel

One rarely comes without the other, Darren who also has been to 3 international tournaments with Team Ireland too brings plenty of international playing experience. Darren was one of Team Ireland's assistant captains this past summer and is eager to help guide the next generation of international players.
Darren who has been a stalwart for the Chiefs seniors over the years has been assisting with coaching the juniors in Bangor the last 2 years and is keen to get to work.

The Under 16 Men's team will be made up of players born between 2005 & 2008 (inclusive) and player's must have an Irish Passport.

The coaches will be holding an invitational Selection Day camp on Saturday 9th November in Longford with invites going later this week. The coaches will be in contact with club coaches to ensure all relevant players are considered.
