So what does IHI do?
The answer is quite a lot actually, a lot of our work is behind the scenes and often unnoticed.
We believe that we do our job well and we certainly enjoy seeing the sport continue to grow.
We know we can always improve and we welcome constructive feedback from our members to help us do more.
The answer to the question of 'what does IHI do for you?', depends on what role you play in the sport. Are you a player, a coach, an official, a sponsor, an administrator, a supporter? Maybe you are a combination of the aforementioned. See which answer applies to you:
A Player: IHI's National League sub-committee set rules for competitions and organise the game schedules for the season. We organise camps, special events and international participation for Irish teams; male and female.
IHI tries to communicate with every player at all levels of the sport through our website and regular social media updates.
A Coach: You are a valued member of the hockey community. IHI is working to establish coaching development, qualifications and training to better support coaches.
An Official: You are represented by the Head of Officiating (HOO) who has direct access to the Executive Committee. IHI also administers officiating courses and training in conjunction with World Skate Europe. As part of this our HOO provides substantial support to all officials & qualified officials can earn generous expenses.
At the highest level we pursue getting our officials officiating on the International stage.
A Sponsor: As many of projects rely on the availability of funds, you are vital to the work of IHI in developing the sport and offering players opportunities.
Whether it be funding training courses, costs of travel for teams on international duty or other initiatives the availability of funds usually decide if it will happen or not.
IHI strives to provide you as a sponsor with the best opportunities to promote your brand and to give you excellent support service and feedback from our community.
An administrator: You are likely to have interaction with various members of IHI as you go about your work looking after your club. IHI volunteers are committed to providing friendly assistance to volunteer members as you work to grow and develop your club. We are always open to suggestions as to how we can improve our service to our members.
A supporter: IHI encourages people to get involved in the sport in many ways. Become a sponsor, a coach, an official or an administrator. Encourage your family to get involved. There is room for everybody.
